Who are we?

E-cocars.com is part of a co-operative, we believe this is the best way to ensure that the benefits of running the car club go to the membership. Logon

More About the history...

E-cocars.com is the second car club operated by Ashburton Co-operative Transport. This original small group of people wanted to see if there was an alternative for busy families to owning even more cars. The town car parks were already groaning and besides all these cars cost so much to maintain.

So this pioneering rural car club called Moorcar started with two lease cars and has grown to provide vehicles in five towns across South Dartmoor and South Devon.

It was Moorcar that became the first UK car club to be awarded the Social Enterprise Mark.

When you join E-cocars.com we will encourage you to become involved with how the car club is run. This locks in the benefits for our members and means we can decide what is in the best interests of the car club.

This is probably not the reason you want to join E-cocars.com and most people are quite happy just to use the cars. Which is fine and you do not have to read the regular newsletters that keep you informed about developments with the other car club locations and transport ideas from around the world.

We do answer any questions about the car club as quickly as possible and if there are any complaints there is a clear and independent route to receive a proper answer from the Chair of the management group. We hope you will agree that this makes E-cocars.com a different kind of car club.

Another difference about E-cocars.com is that we want to create a network of car clubs that offers the most appropriate advice and support for each new location. In smaller communities where the large commercial operators would not expect a high enough return on investment.

E-cocars.com will help a new community find the most appropriate technology to make a car club affordable and effective. We also recognise that local identity is very important. So when we help a new car club to set up we use their name for the car club. We think that joining together adds benefits for a local car club and demonstrates a collective vision of how car clubs benefit the environment while also providing affordable access to a vehicle.

E-cocars.com network is a different way of working. Logon
